Pillar Contractor receives awards in the “Best Building in Latvia” competition

On 10 September, the winners of the “Best Building in Latvia” competition were honoured, and once again several projects completed by Pillar ranked among Latvia’s best construction projects. Awards were received in both the Reconstruction and Restoration category and the Public New Building category.

In the “Reconstruction and Restoration” category, the New Hanza Med building on Mihaila Tāla Street in Riga received 2nd place. During the implementation of the project, the existing building underwent extensive reconstruction, creating a modern environment for the provision of medical services.

In the same category, Carillon Aparthotel on Pils Street in Riga Old Town was awarded 3rd place. Particular attention was paid to preserving the architectural character of the historic building during its reconstruction, while adapting it to the needs of a modern apartment hotel.

Meanwhile, in the “Public New Building” category, 2nd place was awarded to the newly built disaster management centres in Daugavpils, Līvāni and Madona. The projects implemented by Pillar Contractor provide modern infrastructure for emergency services and form part of the development of Latvia’s disaster management infrastructure.

Three award-winning projects in a single competition demonstrate the Pillar team’s experience and ability to deliver technically and functionally diverse construction projects – from the reconstruction of historic buildings in Riga Old Town to the construction of new public facilities of national importance in Latvia’s regions.

The jury selected 40 buildings for the final stage of the competition. A total of 74 buildings completed last year had advanced to the second round, of which 68 are located in Latvia and six were built abroad by Latvian construction companies.

The “Best Building in Latvia 2025” competition is organised by the Latvian Builders Association and the Latvian Association of Civil Engineers in cooperation with Ceresit and 17 industry organisations, the State Construction Control Bureau, State Real Estate, the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments, Riga Technical University, Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, Riga Building College, and the RISEBA Faculty of Architecture and Design.

Pillar is one of the most highly awarded real estate development companies in Latvia and has been operating in the market since 2006. Over the years, the quality of the company’s projects has been recognised through various Latvian and international construction and architecture awards. Previously awarded projects include the cultural venue Hanzas Perons, Logistics Park A6, Miera Park House, New Hanza infrastructure projects, Pillar Mežciema mājas, and others.
