In August, construction works began on the section of 11. novembra krastmala between Vanšu Bridge and the Railway Bridge. As part of the project, approximately 1.1 kilometres of cycle route separated from motor traffic and pedestrian flows will be built. The pedestrian promenade surface will also be renewed, and a new pedestrian crossing will be created near Akmens Bridge.
The cycle route will form part of the approximately 14-kilometre-long “City Centre–Ķengarags–Rumbula–Dārziņi” route, providing a safe and continuous connection with Akmens Bridge, Riga Old Town, the cycling infrastructure around Riga Central Market, and the cycle route along Ģenerāļa Radziņa krastmala.
